Why You Should Do Small Group Training with a Physiotherapist

What is Small Group Training?

It is an exercise class which is run by a Physiotherapist with a maximum of 4 clients participating in the class. Each client is set up with their own individualised program which has been designed by their Physiotherapist. A variety of equipment is used to help you with your body awareness, encouraging correct muscle activation, and to improve strength and stability. Small group training can also help you work on your mobility and flexibility, or balance and proprioception.

5 Reasons why they are good:

  1. Specific exercises with a variety of equipment
  2. Physiotherapist keeping an eye on you and correctingyour technique
  3. Modifying and progressing exercises as appropriate
  4. Setting and reaching personalised goals
  5. Safe and supportive environment

Small Group Training with a Physio

How to get started:

An initial 60 minute one-on-one assessment with a Physiotherapist takes place. This consists of a thorough musculoskeletal assessment including an ultrasound scan of the core (trans-abdominal muscles and the pelvic floor).

An individualised program is then designed based on the latest evidence to work on the different things that came up during the assessment and to help with your individualised needs. Leading on from this another one-on-one exercise session is performed to take you through your program and finalise the exercises.

If you have already been seeing one of our Physiotherapists then they will let you know when you are ready to begin these small group classes.
