How can Exercise Physiology help me?

Exercise Physiology is a cornerstone at Forge West End. Our Exercise Physiologists (EPs) are University qualified, Allied Health Professionals. They are equipped with knowledge and skills to deliver an exercise program tailored to you. If you have an acute, sub-acute or chronic condition, we’ll work with you and help you improve your wellbeing.

Our EP’s also design performance based exercise programs for athletes looking to go to the next level, and every day athletes wanting to achieve specific sports goals and better overall health.

In your initial appointment, your EP will conduct a thorough assessment and create a tailored exercise program specific to your needs. Whether you’re recovering from injury, managing your condition or simply looking to improve your performance, we’re here to help every step of the way.

Collaborative Approach:

At Forge West End, we believe in a collaborative approach toward your wellbeing because we understand that each body presents differently.  Therefore, if deemed required our team of Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists will work together to design your tailored treatment plan.

Strength & Conditioning Services:

At Forge, our Exercise Physiologists also run Strength and Conditioning sessions as either a one-on-one session or group sessions (max 6 people). We can guide you through your exercise program in studio or meet you at your gym where you are a member. Our Strength and Conditioning services include:

Initial Assessment

In your initial assessment your Exercise Physiologist will discuss your medical history because we want to gain an in-depth understanding of your current health. This will include reviewing previous and current injuries, medical conditions and medications, and your level of physical activity. From this information, they will be able to create a personalised exercise program and treatment plan specific to your condition and goals.

Next, your EP will complete a series of physical assessments because we want to establish a starting point for your wellbeing journey. These physical assessments may include testing your strength, flexibility and your cardiovascular performance. After your assessments, your EP will discuss your personal goals and create a plan on how you can effectively achieve these goals. As a result you will have a clear understanding of your treatment plan moving forward.

Small Group Training (4:1)

After completing your initial assessment, your Exercise Physiologist will design the individualised exercise program they will guide you through in your small group training sessions. We have limited our clinical classes to a maximum of 4 people because we want to ensure you receive the attention and support you need to work towards your personal goals and maintain correct form.

Our goal is to work alongside you because we want to see you moving with confidence and be able to add one (or more) of our ‘Performance Classes’ into your workout schedule. Your movement progression will be monitored under the complete guidance from your Exercise Physiologist, so you can trust your wellbeing is in very competent hands.

One-on-one Sessions

Our one-on-one sessions provide you with an opportunity for personalised guidance through an exercise session designed around your assessment results and goals. During your one-on-one sessions you will be guided through correct form because we want to ensure you are exercising safely and effectively.

Your Exercise Physiologist may also provide you with a home exercise program to assist you in reaching your goals outside of the gym.

Medicare and Private Health Rebate

An EPC referral is required from your GP in order for your sessions to be covered through Medicare. Please check with your Doctor to see if you are eligible.

Exercise Physiology sessions can be claimed by most Private Health Insurance Companies, but you need to check if you are covered. Please call your insurance company before booking an appointment to see if you are eligible.

What to Expect?

We recommend that you arrive at least 10 minutes before your appointment to fill out our initial client form. Your initial appointment will take place within one of our Curtained Private Rooms. All further appointments will take place in our Exercise Space. Please be aware that there may be other clients in the studio working with our other therapists at the time of your assessment.

What to Wear

Please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and easily. During your initial appointment you will be required to complete a range of fitness assessments so it is important you dress appropriately.

Bookings and Payments

Bookings can be made by our ‘Book Online’ tab on our website. You can also download our Forge Pilates App and book here. Please select the Initial Exercise Physiology Assessment (60mins).
