Exercise Physiology

Exercise Physiology at Forge

Accredited Exercise Physiologists are university qualified allied health professionals equipped with the knowledge, skills and competencies to design, deliver and evaluate safe and effective exercise interventions for people with acute, sub-acute or chronic medical conditions. They also treat those without any known conditions and help design an exercise program to achieve specific goals and better health.

At Forge, our Exercise Physiologists will sit down with each client and complete a thorough assessment so that an appropriate program is created specific to your needs and goals. Whether you are suffering from an injury, chronic condition or are just looking to improve your strength, performance and fitness, they are here to help.

Our Strength and Conditioning services include: Home Exercise Program Design, Gym Program Design, One on One Session training and Group Fitness Sessions at Forge. For ease of program teaching, our EPs are also able to come to your gym where you are a member and teach you your program where you feel safe and comfortable.

Each client presents differently, and if required our team of Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists at Forge will work together to deliver an appropriate program and treatment.

Initial Assessment

Our initial assessment enables our Exercise Physiologists to conduct a thorough medical history specifically looking at previous and current injuries, medical conditions and medications as well as discussing your previous or current physical activity patterns. This is to ensure our clinicians have an in-depth understanding of your health to be able to prescribe and tailor an individualised treatment plan. You will then be taken through a series of assessments which are tailored to your condition and this may include strength, flexibility or cardiovascular assessments. Following assessment your clinician will discuss your personal goals and work with you to plan how you can effectively achieve these goals. At the completion of the assessment you will have a clear understanding of your treatment plan moving forward.

Small Group Training (4:1)

Upon the completion of your initial assessment, your Exercise Physiologist will design your individualised exercise program. During the small group training sessions, our Exercise Physiologists will guide you through this program ensuring you work towards your rehabilitation goals whilst working technically correct. Quality of service is of upmost importance to Forge, this is why we limit these group to a maximum of 4 people. Whilst perfect for individualised attention and working through injury rehabilitation, our goal is to get you moving with enough confidence to add one (or more) of our ‘Performance Classes’ into your workout schedule. Under complete guidance from your Exercise Physiologist, your movement progression is in very competent hands! We can’t wait to improve your movement.

One-on-one Sessions

Our one on one sessions provide you with an opportunity for individualised guidance through an exercise session which is developed around your assessment results and goals. During your sessions you can expect to be guided through correct technique to ensure you are exercising safely and effectively. You may also be provided with a home exercise program to further assist you reaching your goals outside of the gym.

Medicare and Private Health Rebate

An EPC referral is required from your GP for your sessions to be covered with an Exercise Physiologist or Physiotherapist through Medicare. Please consult your Doctor to see if you are eligible.

Exercise Physiology sessions can be claimed by most Private Health Insurance Companies, however you as a client are required to check if you are covered. Please call your insurance company prior to booking an appointment to see if you are eligible.
