NDIS Physiotherapy in Brisbane: How It Actually Works

Share:

This one is written as much for support coordinators as for participants, because the questions we get from each are different and both deserve a straight answer.

What we deliver

NDIS physiotherapy and exercise physiology at Forge West End covers assessment and goal setting, one-to-one sessions, small group therapy at four to one, home program design, and functional support strategies. Remedial massage is available where it forms part of the plan.

We work with participants living with physical disability, neurological conditions, intellectual disability, psychosocial disability where exercise is clinically appropriate, reduced mobility or balance, and chronic or complex health conditions.

Plan-managed and self-managed

We take both. Call us on 07 3844 0686 or email info@forgewestend.com.au and we will walk through how billing works for your plan type before anything is booked.

What the first appointment involves

History, current limitations, and the goals written in the plan — then assessments so we know where we are starting from. You leave with a plan rather than just an appointment, and the coordinator gets something that maps onto the plan’s language.

Group therapy is not a lesser option

Some participants prefer four-to-one sessions, and not only for cost. You exercise and see other people at the same time, which for someone whose week is otherwise solitary is part of the point. The program is still individually prescribed — it is the supervision that is shared, not the plan.

Where the technology matters

For participants with neurological involvement, Neubie therapy is worth asking about. It works on the communication between the nervous system and the muscle rather than on the muscle alone, which is a different problem from ordinary weakness — and it is included in the consultation at no additional charge.

If getting here is the barrier

It often is. Our clinicians can deliver home visits in some circumstances, with travel included in the fee rather than charged on top. For participants for whom transport is the whole obstacle, that is frequently the difference between a program that happens and one that exists on paper.

The cancellation rule

NDIS-funded sessions carry a 48-hour cancellation requirement rather than our usual 24. That is the NDIS rule, not ours, and we mention it at booking so it is never a surprise.

Forge West End is at Unit 4, 249 Montague Road, West End. Book online or call 07 3844 0686 — we are open from 6am Monday to Friday.
