Exercise Physiology in West End, Brisbane

Clinical exercise for chronic conditions, injury recovery and long-term health — prescribed by university-qualified Accredited Exercise Physiologists.

Exercise physiology uses exercise itself as the treatment — to prevent, manage and recover from a wide range of health conditions and injuries. At Forge West End our Accredited Exercise Physiologists support you whether you are recovering from injury, managing a chronic condition, or working to get fitter and stronger.

What is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist?

An AEP is a university-qualified allied health professional who understands how exercise affects the body both in health and in chronic disease. They prescribe individualised, evidence-based programs to support recovery, improve physical performance and protect long-term health — which is a different job from personal training, and is claimable through Medicare, private health, NDIS, DVA and WorkCover.

How we work

Our exercise physiologists work with you directly and, where it helps, alongside our physiotherapists in the same building — so a program can be adjusted the same week your injury changes, not a month later. Sessions run one-on-one or in small clinical classes of no more than four people.

What we help with

Health management, and everything after it

Exercise physiology is not only for people who are unwell. Roughly half our clients come to get stronger, not to recover.

Health management

Osteoarthritis and joint pain · muscle injuries and rehabilitation · respiratory and breathing conditions · weight management · cancer recovery and rehabilitation · type 2 diabetes · osteoporosis and bone health.

Performance & wellbeing

General fitness and strength · posture and injury prevention · flexibility, coordination and mobility · sports performance · confidence, independence and self-esteem — the outcome clients name most often.

What to expect

Your first exercise physiology appointment

  1. Initial assessment, in a private room

Your current health, previous injuries and medical history, then a set of physical assessments chosen for you.

  2. Goals that are actually achievable

Realistic, motivating and measurable — so progress is something you can see rather than something you are told about.

  3. A program built for you

A customised exercise program to support recovery and progression, reviewed and updated as you change.

  4. One-on-one, or a small group

One-on-one gives you focused attention; small group sessions are more cost-effective and still individually prescribed with close supervision.

What to wear: comfortable, breathable clothing and supportive sneakers — you will be moving, stretching and doing fitness assessments, so dress for full movement.

With a valid GP Chronic Condition Management Plan. We do not bulk bill; the rebate returns to your account.

Private health
