Sports & Gym Injuries Treatment in West End, Brisbane

Rehabilitation that ends where the sport starts — tested, not estimated.

Most sporting injuries are load problems: something was asked to do more than it had capacity for, either suddenly or gradually. That is good news, because capacity is trainable — but it means the plan has to end with you doing the thing that injured you, under load, before we sign it off.

What you are likely to notice

  • Hamstring, calf and groin strains
  • Ankle sprains and recurrent instability
  • Knee injuries, from ligament to patellofemoral pain
  • Shoulder injuries in overhead and contact sport
  • Tendon problems from a spike in training load

What usually causes it

  • A sudden jump in training volume, intensity or frequency
  • Returning to sport at the level you left it after a break
  • An earlier injury that was never fully rehabilitated
  • Fatigue, poor sleep and inadequate recovery between sessions

How we treat it at Forge

Assessment establishes what the tissue currently tolerates. Then hands-on treatment and technology where it helps recovery, and a strength program on the gym floor that progresses toward the demands of your sport. The last phase is the one usually skipped: running, changing direction, jumping and landing, tested against the other side before you go back.

How long it takes

It depends entirely on the tissue — a muscle strain and a tendon are different timescales. What we can give you at the first visit is a realistic range and the criteria you will be measured against.

Questions

What people ask about this

Can I keep training while I rehabilitate?

Almost always something, and usually more than people expect. Complete rest costs you conditioning you will have to rebuild, so we work out what you can load rather than what you cannot.

How do you decide when I am ready to go back?

Objective testing — strength compared to the other side, control under fatigue, and the specific movements your sport demands. Not the calendar, and not how it feels on a good day.

What if the same injury keeps coming back?

That normally means the original rehabilitation stopped at pain-free rather than at capacity. It is one of the most common reasons people come to us for a second opinion.

Not sure this is what you have? That is exactly what an assessment is for — and if it turns out to be something else, we will tell you.
