Pain around the front of the kneecap that shows up on stairs, hills and after sitting — and gets better with strength, not rest.
Patellofemoral pain is pain around or behind the kneecap, and it is one of the most common problems in runners and in anyone who has recently increased how much they are on their feet. There is rarely damage; there is usually a mismatch between load and capacity.
Reduce the provoking load without stopping altogether, then load the quadriceps and hips progressively — this is a condition where strengthening is well supported and rest reliably disappoints. A gait scan tells us whether foot mechanics are contributing before anyone prescribes an orthotic.
Improvement over six to twelve weeks with consistent loading is typical. Running is usually reintroduced during that time, not after it.
Only the ones that make sense for this problem — listing all three on every page would be advertising, not information.

Almost certainly not in any way that needs correcting. Alignment explanations have not held up well; load and capacity explain far more, and are things you can actually change.
Usually reduce rather than stop. Complete rest costs you the conditioning you will need, and the pain generally returns on the first run back.
Sometimes they help, and a gait scan is how we find out rather than guess. They work alongside strengthening, not instead of it.
Not sure this is what you have? That is exactly what an assessment is for — and if it turns out to be something else, we will tell you.
