Reformer Pilates in West End, Brisbane

40+ classes a week on Balanced Body Allegro 2 reformers, capped at six people — no prerequisites, no experience needed.

Reformer Pilates at Forge runs across five class styles and every level, in a studio built for it. Because classes are capped at six, we take clients with no Pilates experience at all — there are no prerequisites, only enough instructor attention to make the first class work.

The equipment

You will train on the Balanced Body Allegro 2. It is easy to use, safe, and has a moveable foot-bar — a feature no other reformer in the industry offers — which opens up a much wider range of exercise than a fixed bar allows.

Not sure your core is switching on?

We offer an ultrasound service that checks deep core engagement. If you are new to Pilates we strongly recommend it: we can show you your own core activating on screen and teach you to control it, which is far faster than being told to ‘engage your core’ and guessing.

Private health

Reformer classes are not claimable on private health. That is not our rule — since the Australian Government’s 2019 private health reform, Pilates-based services are ineligible everywhere, even when a physiotherapist delivers them. If claiming matters to you, clinical classes are the equivalent that generally is claimable.

Class styles

Five reformer classes, every level

Most people settle into a favourite within a few weeks.

Beginner Reformer

A one-hour introduction to the basics and the equipment, capped at six. The right place to start if you have never touched a reformer.

Intermediate Reformer

A faster pace and more complex movement patterns. A step up, but it does not need much Pilates experience — the instructor adjusts as you go.

Jumpboard Reformer

A padded board replaces the foot-bar, giving a low-impact way to raise your heart rate. You jump with your arms as well as your feet.

Mums and Bubs

Post-pregnancy recovery on the reformers, and you can bring your baby along. Run by a physiotherapist, so it needs an initial consultation first if you are new.

Stretch & Trigger

Stretching, self-mobilisation and trigger release using arc barrels, back balls, foam rollers and reformers.

Every reformer class is taught by a comprehensively trained Pilates instructor — with one exception, and it is a deliberate one.

Mums and Bubs is run by a physiotherapist or exercise physiologist rather than an instructor, because postnatal recovery is a clinical question before it is a fitness one. That is also why it is the only reformer class that requires an initial consultation for new clients.
